Underhood, operated by Elowin Labs LLC, uses one cookie of its own and a little browser storage. This page explains the cookie notice you see on your first visit, the three categories it offers, and what each one controls.
The cookie notice
On your first visit a small notice in the corner of the page asks how the site may use your browser's storage. You can accept everything, decline everything, or open the preferences and choose per category. Nothing beyond what is essential is stored until you answer. You can change your mind at any time: the "Your privacy choices" link in the footer of every page reopens the preferences.
The three categories
- Essential (always on): the record of your consent choice itself. Without it the notice would have to ask on every page.
- Functional: remembering your choices between visits. With Functional on, the site keeps your theme (light or dark) in this browser. With it off, the theme lasts for the page you are on, nothing is remembered, and anything remembered earlier is removed.
- Analytics: privacy-friendly visit counting by Plausible, which uses no cookies and collects no personal data. Measurement is on unless you decline it; turning Analytics off stops Plausible counting at once and on later visits.
The consent record
Your choice is kept in a first-party cookie named uh_consent and in local storage under uh-consent, for 180 days. The record holds only the choice you made (one on/off value per category and the time you made it), nothing else, and it is not shared with anyone.
Browser storage behind the Functional category
With Functional on, the site keeps one value in your browser's local storage, under this site's origin only.
underhood.theme: light or dark, set when you press the theme control.
Turning Functional off removes it. Clearing site data for underhood.video removes everything listed on this page.
Third parties
The channel buttons take you to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, and the "Support the channel" link goes to our Ko-fi page, where any tip is handled by Ko-fi and Stripe under their own policies. None of these requests are triggered by a cookie of ours, and none of those sites set cookies on underhood.video.
